Kathy Ivens has been a computer consultant since 1984, and several years ago she began writing books. She has authored, co-authored, contributed to, and ghost written more than fifty volumes on computer subjects. She is a frequent contributor to national magazines on computer topics, writing reviews and articles, and is a Senior Contributing Editor for Windows IT Pro Magazine (nee Windows & .NET Magazine, nee nee Windows 2000 Magazine, nee nee nee Windows NT Magazine).
Before becoming a computer nerd, Ms Ivens spent many years as a television producer, where she had fun producing sports and was mildly amused producing news, entertainment programs, and promos.
Preceding that career was some time spent as a community organizer for social agencies and as a political consultant. She's also had careers in marketing, advertising, film/tape production, music, and soda-jerking (working backwards to prepubescence).
She still doesn't know what she wants to be when she grows up.
